Virginia Black Chamber of Commerce Grant from GO Virginia
Virginia Black Chamber of Commerce Receives $98,438 Grant from GO Virginia for Launch of Empowering Black Entrepreneurs (EBE) Pilot Business Accelerator Program
RICHMOND, VA – November 30, 2023 – The Virginia Black Chamber of Commerce (VABCC) is thrilled to announce the receipt of a generous grant of $98,438 from GO Virginia Region 6. This funding will underpin the launch of the VABCC's groundbreaking initiative - the EBE Pilot Business Accelerator Program.
GO Virginia, a state-funded initiative managed by the Virginia Department of Housing and Community Development (DHCD), is committed to strengthening and diversifying Virginia's economy and fostering the creation of higher-wage jobs in strategic industries. These objectives align seamlessly with the goals of the program.
"We are deeply grateful for the support from GO Virginia," says President & CEO, Ernisha Hall of the VABCC. "Their substantial contribution will go a long way in bolstering our efforts to provide a robust platform for Black entrepreneurs in Virginia."
The program is designed to empower aspiring and established Black entrepreneurs with the skills, knowledge, and resources necessary to successfully navigate the business world. It includes comprehensive training on business fundamentals, financial literacy, branding, and marketing support.
Importantly, this pilot program will also serve as a critical measurement tool for developing a Statewide Black Business Accelerator. The feedback and results from the program will guide the expansion and refinement of future initiatives, ensuring they are effective and tailored to the needs of Black businesses in Virginia.
Applications for the program will become available in mid-January 2024, with the first cohort slated to begin in February 2024.
This opportunity marks a significant step forward in the VABCC's mission to promote economic empowerment within the Black community. With the support of GO Virginia and the DHCD, the VABCC can continue to foster a culture of entrepreneurship and innovation in the state.
Thank you for the Virginia Black Chamber of Commerce Go Virginia Grant!
